"Must See" German MuseumsAs elsewhere in the world,
the museums of Germany are quite varied in their scope and significance.
In fact, there are museums devoted to many different topic areas,
including the shipping industry and cars. However, if you're
merely looking for some great all-around museums with spectacular
exhibits, you can't beat these: The Deutsches Museum in Munich
is an amazing amalgamation of all things science- and technology-related.
But make no mistake - this place is hardly a snoozer! In fact,
it's widely regarded as having some of the most fascinating
displays you can see in a techno-museum. |
|
Also in Munich is the Alte Pinakothek, where you'll find paintings
and other works by such masters as Brueghel, Botticelli, and
Leonardo da Vinci.
If your German travels take you to Berlin, why not stop by the
Juedisches Museum, one of the most recently opened cultural
locales dedicated to telling the sometimes disturbing but always
riveting stories of the Jewish German peoples.

| Berlin also boasts
the Gemaeldegalerie as well as the Pergamon museums. At the
Gemaeldegalerie, you can witness powerful, moving, and awe-inspiring
masterpieces by Titan, Raphael, and Rembrandt. And the Pergamon,
opened in 1930, contains Greek and Roman artifacts, including
the Pergamon Altar, part of the Temple of Zeus and Athena which
no longer exists.
In Stuttgart for a few days?
The Mercedes-Benz-Museum is a place where you can capture some
fabulous snaps of antique cars. And if autos aren't your passion,
travel to the nearby Staatsgalerie, with famous works by Picasso,
Monet, and Bellini represented. Truly, you could spend weeks
just touring the German countryside enjoying the many museums. |
